Praxes is a multidisciplinary design firm based in Brooklyn.  My name is Ji Young Kim and I’m a principal. We believe design can improve our everyday lives and transform them into something extraordinary. I’m a licensed Architect and have completed a number of projects all around the world.

Praxes explores new and creative ways to integrate natural, sustainable building materials with innovative practice.

A large part of my professional experience has been in the United States, working on new construction and renovation of cultural, commercial and residential projects for the firms of Shigeru Ban Architects (2014 Pritzker Prize Laureate) and Asymptote Architecture. I’m experienced with projects in various sizes and scope, ranging from apartments to retail to art museums, as well as public art projects.

I’m also an Adjunct Professor of Architecture at the New Jersey Institute of Technology and Visiting Assistant Professor of Interior Design at Pratt Institute. I believe teaching has a greater reach beyond the realm of academia. From my professional and academic experience, I strongly believe it is critical for institutions and professions to serve the community and make positive impacts through designing with the community.
